Learn what the Fugitive Promo Card: Flash of Insight does, how it changes gameplay, and how to use it in your Fugitive 2nd edition games.
Quick answer
The Fugitive Promo Card: Flash of Insight is an additional SHIFT card for Fugitive 2nd edition that introduces a new strategic layer without altering the core chase mechanics.
How does Flash of Insight change the game?
This promo card functions as a SHIFT card, meaning it can be played during the Fugitive's turn to trigger a special effect. Unlike standard SHIFT cards, Flash of Insight gives the Fugitive a one-time ability to peek at the Marshal's hand or discard pile, or to rearrange their own hidden tokens. This adds a bluffing and information-gathering element that rewards careful timing.
Is it compatible with all Fugitive editions?
The card is designed specifically for Fugitive 2nd edition. It integrates seamlessly with the base game's deck and rules. If you own an earlier edition, you may need to check compatibility, as the card mechanics rely on the 2nd edition's updated SHIFT card system.
Frequently asked questions
- What does Flash of Insight do exactly?
- When played as a SHIFT card, Flash of Insight allows the Fugitive to secretly look at one card from the Marshal's hand or discard pile, or to rearrange the order of their own hidden tokens. The exact effect is chosen by the player at the moment of play.
- How do I add it to my game?
- Shuffle the Flash of Insight card into the Fugitive's SHIFT card deck before the game starts. It replaces no other card and does not require any rule changes. Treat it like any other SHIFT card during play.
- Can the Marshal also use this card?
- No. Flash of Insight is a SHIFT card, which only the Fugitive can play. The Marshal's abilities remain unchanged. This keeps the asymmetric power balance intact while giving the Fugitive a new tool. If you want to give the Marshal a similar advantage, consider using the Fugitive Events expansion for balanced options.
